Terms

What this site provides

TCM Compass provides a general educational reference about Chinese medicine concepts, everyday ingredients and learning resources. It is intended to help you understand terminology, compare product forms, follow food-preparation information and locate the sources behind a statement. It is not a medical practice, an individual consultation or a treatment service.

No page determines your diagnosis, constitution, prescription or exercise suitability. A traditional description is not a promise of clinical benefit. Do not use an article, saved list or search result to replace a qualified professional’s assessment or to postpone care. Questions about your own treatment fall outside the site’s editorial correction service.

Read the material in its actual form

A food name may cover different species, origins or processed forms. A page about an ordinary ingredient does not authorise using an unidentified plant, ornamental material, concentrated extract or medicinal product in the same way. Kitchen quantities and timings are labelled as food-preparation guidance or source examples, not medicinal doses.

Sources differ in purpose and certainty. A source page may describe culture, a botanical record, food safety or a study, each supporting a different kind of statement. The article’s qualifications and the source record’s limitations are part of the content, not optional fine print. Information, packaging and external pages can change.

Links, photographs and reuse

You may link to a public page to share the reference in context. A link does not transfer ownership of its text, photographs or external publications. Third-party material remains subject to its stated licence or the rights holder’s permission; this site does not offer a blanket licence to copy everything it links to.

The homepage yam photographs have individual source, creator, licence and modification credits. Consult those records before reusing an image, including any attribution obligations. Teaching resources belong to their publishers; a resource link does not imply a partnership, an instructor endorsement or ownership of the video.

Using the interactive features

Saved pages are a convenience stored in your current browser, not an account, medical record or guaranteed backup. Clearing site data can remove them. Public browsing does not require a login; some interactive controls require JavaScript and browser storage. There is no purchase or checkout function in this release.

The correction form is for a specific verifiable content issue. Please send a relevant page and explanation, optionally with a readable source, rather than advertising, sensitive personal records or requests for diagnosis. A received reference confirms submission to the editorial queue; it is not a guarantee that a proposed change is correct or will be adopted.

Questions about a statement

Keep the page address, identify the sentence or section, and check its linked source before reporting. The editorial-standards page explains the distinction between a correction, a source disagreement and an unresolved evidence gap. Privacy explains what is stored when you submit.

These terms explain the current educational scope and feature boundaries. They do not claim professional medical review, a guaranteed result or that every possible issue has been exhaustively investigated.
